U-5 DIVISION IS CHANGING

WCAA is changing the format of its U-5 Division.  These changes in format are a move to help us comply with the suggested FYSA format.  This will ensure a better coach to child ratio and will allow for your child to have more "touches on the ball".

The total number of U-5 teams in the division will be based upon the number of U-5 Head Coaches WCAA is able to recruit rounding down to an even number of teams, with a maximum of 24 total Co-Ed teams; playing in a 3 vs 3 format, with a maximum of six rostered children per team.

Rostered slots within the U-5 division will be filled initially by those registered from a list of children whose parents have filled out and submitted head coaching applications for WCAA Soccer.

Subsequently available rostered slots within the U-5 division will be made available after each pair of U-5 Head Coaches have been assigned and their children have been rostered.

If an odd number of U-5 Head Coaches slots are filled below the maximum of 24 Head Coaching positions, the child of the last Head Coach will replace the last registered child whose parents chose not to coach on the U-5 division roster.

ALL registered children for the U-5 Division whose parents do not wish to fill out a head coaching application and submit that application on-line along with the child’s registration must wait until rostered spots become available before their children will be placed in the U-5 Division.

Also changing this season is WCAA’s time table and formal practice schedule for the U-5 Division – no more weekday practices.  Check out a Sample Gameday Schedule and you will see that U-5 practices are now held before each game held on Saturday, as well as what we expect a typical Saturday MIGHT look like in the U-5 Division.

With that in mind, WCAA Recreational Soccer is looking to significantly augment its coaching staff, particularly within the U-5 age Division.  The time commitment for each U-5 coach is spelled out in the sample U-5 schedule - - - remember no weekday practices and everything contained within a two hour per week format.  Coaching experience is NOT required as WCAA will host a FYSA U-6/U-8 coaching module before the season starts for all WCAA soccer coaches to ensure that the kids and coaches are prepared for a great recreational soccer experience.
