Originated by Native Americans to prepare for battle it has turned into a Division I college sport. There are over 200 high school teams in the state of Florida as well as club teams at the University of Florida, Florida State, Central Florida and Saint Leo University. There are now several youth programs in the Tampa Bay area with high school club teams starting up every year.
