The WCAA loses one of their own!
Derek Pieper September 25, 1988 -- July 28, 2006. Member of the WCAA Warriors high school lacrosse team.
Derek was a good teammate and player for the Warriors. He worked hard at his lacrosse skills and even harder at keeping his teammates happy and loose.
Derek was also an honor student at Wesley Chapel High School. He was dual-enrolled at Pasco-Hernando Community College preparing himself for the next phase of his life. He would have graduated from WCHS in the spring of 2007.
As a friend, he spread joy with his smile, unassuming nature, gift for giving, and knack for saying the right thing. He reveled in making people laugh as well as helping them through the many trials and tribulations that a high school student faces on a day-to-day basis. His parents, family, classmates and teammates will miss his sense of humor and sense of humanity.
God, please bless him, take him into your arms and bring him home. Until we are out on the field together again, we will miss you Derek. Thank you for the many smiles you have brought to our faces and constant camaraderie you have provided. Let’s give a shout-out in Derek’s honor: On three, DUB-C. 1-2-3 DUB-C!!
As a tribute to his memory, the number “11” jersey will henceforth be retired from the Warriors HS team.
In the near future, there will be a scholarship fund set up in the name of Derek Pieper. Until specific accounts are set up, along with a note for Derek, you can mail any gifts or donations to the WCAA. Thank you.
